In this blog we are going to outline exactly how we have started making some nice cash from the Amazon affiliate scheme, and how you can too.
This side hustle takes very little time to set up, and once you’re ready it’s really up to you how much you can make from it. To give you an idea of what you can earn, we set up our Amazon affiliate scheme link in July 2023, and in the 6 weeks since we have already earned £165, as you can see below.
And since starting to write this blog we’ve actually earned another £30!
Now, this may not sound like much, but please bear in mind that the main reason we began this side hustle was to try and earn some extra money over the summer school holidays. We have two young children who are wonderful, funny and loving…whilst in equal measure demanding, easily bored and skilled at driving us insane. Trying to conjure the energy to do anything productive at all after a full day with both of the sprogs at home is almost impossible. Couple this with the fact that we were juggling childcare with our normal day job in our digital marketing agency, then you may get some idea of how hard it was to get motivated to do any side hustle work when we finally got the kids to bed.
So unfortunately, due to our children (yes, we are blaming them haha!) and whoever’s silly idea it was to have a 6 week summer break, we had very little time to fully concentrate on some of our larger side hustles. Lucky kids are cute, eh?
But we didn’t want the excuse of being emotionally and physically drained by the kids to completely stop our side hustle adventures, which is why we opted to try making money from the Amazon affiliate scheme. At the end of a very long and mentally exhausting day, we could still make some money from the comfort of our sofa, once the children were in bed. We are only giving you this little insight into our daily hell, sorry life, as it shows that even 10 minutes of work a day could produce the following results. And if you have more time to devote to this side hustle, you could be earning a lot more than £165 in your first 6 weeks! We have also been earning higher affiliate commissions from other schemes too, but we’ll save that for another blog!
So how do you earn from the Amazon affiliate scheme?
As the largest online retailer in history, Amazon understands the value of referrals when it comes to selling their endless products. This is why they have created their Amazon affiiate scheme, which makes it easy for anyone to earn from them. In a nutshell, it works like this:
1. Create an Amazon affiliate scheme account
2. Refer Amazon products to people
3. Earn a percentage of the sale price if your referred product/s are bought by that person
Didn’t we say it was simple? It really is as easy as 1,2,3. But to really make sure you are getting the most from the Amazon affiliate scheme, we are going to go into further detail on each step
1. Create an Amazon affiliate scheme account
Amazon makes it super simple to start selling their products. Just log in to Amazon using your existing Amazon account details, scroll to the bottom of the page and in the footer you can see a whole section on selling for Amazon. Check out our video which shows you where to go, and how to get the unique product links once you have signed up, so you can start making money from Amazon products with the Amazon affiliate scheme.
2. Refer Amazon products to people
Once you are set up on the Amazon affiliate scheme and know how to share a unique link for the products you want to sell on their behalf, it’s time to start referring! The easiest way to do this is through social media. You can start by suggesting certain products to your followers (whilst posting your unique link to those Amazon products), and when anyone buys that product after clicking your unique link, you earn a small commission from the sale price. And that’s not all! You will even earn a small commission from anything else that the user buys from Amazon in a 24 hour period AFTER they have used your unique link to buy a product. So if you post a link for an Air Fryer and someone clicks your link and then buys it, and then 6 hours later logs back onto Amazon and buys several more products, you will earn a commission not just from the Air Fryer, but all of the other products they bought too! It is this that makes the Amazon affiliate scheme so worthwhile.
3. Earn a percentage of the sale
As mentioned above, through the Amazon affiliate link you will earn a commission from products bought through your unique product link, plus everything else bought by that user for 24 hours after using your unique product link. Check out this video which explains how you get paid in greater detail.

So now you know how to start earning money from the Amazon affiliate scheme, the sky really is the limit. We only started doing this 6 weeks ago, with only an average of 10 minutes a night posting products. And from those 10 minutes a night we have earned £165, which just goes to show that this is a great side hustle that takes little work, and which rewards you for the time you put in.
