If you’re looking for an easy and flexible way to make some extra money from home, then User Interviews might just be the side hustle for you.

We’ve personally tested out this platform and have been pleasantly surprised at how simple it is to get started. You sign up, apply to relevant studies, and if you’re selected, you get paid to share your opinion or test out a product. It really is that easy.

So far, User Interviews has become one of our go-to side hustle platforms for making a bit of extra cash on the side without needing any special skills or qualifications.

Let us walk you through what it’s all about and how much money we’ve actually made.

What Is User Interviews?

User Interviews is a platform that connects everyday people with companies who need feedback on products, websites, software, and services.

Here are just a few of the things companies want your opinion on:

  • Banking or finance apps

  • Household appliances you’re thinking of buying

  • Marketing software

  • AI tools and new tech features

  • Website or app design

You might be asked to fill in a short survey, take part in a one-on-one interview over Zoom, or even test something and record your screen while using it.

Most studies pay between £10 and £200, depending on what’s involved and how long it takes.

What We’ve Earned So Far from User Interviews

Since signing up to User Interviews, we’ve taken part in a range of studies and earned some really decent payouts for not a lot of effort.

Here’s a quick rundown of what we’ve done so far:

  • £75 for a 45-minute interview about buying laptops for our business

  • £55 to test out a piece of marketing automation software

  • £80 for providing feedback on a new SaaS dashboard

  • £63 in Tesco vouchers for reviewing marketing software over a two-hour session (we got paid straight after the call)

We’ve also earned extra through referrals. When someone signs up using your link and completes a study, both of you get £10. Some tasks even offer £30 vouchers for both you and your referral.

Our Funniest User Interviews Experience

Our most random (but hilarious) experience with User Interviews was being asked to test early AI features in Photoshop. This was way before AI was everywhere like it is now.

One of the tasks was to “turn yourself into a queen” using the tool.

Sounds fabulous, right? What we got was a photo of us in a COVID mask, looking very confused. Not quite the royal transformation we imagined, but hey, we got paid, had a laugh, and got to try something genuinely interesting.

Is User Interviews Worth It as a Side Hustle?

For us, User Interviews scores a solid 8 out of 10.

Pros:

  • Genuinely easy to do

  • Great variety of topics

  • No specialist skills required

  • Decent money for the time involved

  • Fully remote and flexible

Cons:

  • You won’t qualify for every study you apply for

  • Some weeks there might not be much available

  • Not consistent enough to rely on as regular income

We think of it more as bonus money, something that fits around work, kids, and day-to-day life, and gives you a nice little cash injection now and then.
