From Wet Wipes to Radiant Skin. My Unexpected Journey with Tropic

my makeup. I’ve always been wary of skincare. Sensitive skin, allergic reactions, breakouts at the drop of a hat. So treating myself to anything beyond soap and water felt like a risky indulgence.

But here I am, one month into becoming a Tropic Ambassador, and I genuinely feel like I’ve unlocked a whole new level of self-care. With the added bonus of a lovely little side hustle on top.

So… How Did I End Up Here?

It all started at Go Bananas play centre, at a kids party of all places. I got chatting to one of the other mums, Stef, while our kids went wild in the soft play. She mentioned Tropic and invited me along to a local BNI networking group she was part of. Over time I got to hear more and more about her journey with the brand, and I was quietly impressed. She wasn’t pushy, just genuinely passionate, and that stuck with me.

I dipped my toe in by buying a hand cream and lip balm. The kind of bits you grab when you’ve run out. But my real Tropic moment came when I decided to book a pamper party for one of our employees who was heading off on maternity leave. I figured it would be a nice treat for her. Little did I know I’d end up treating myself too.

The Pamper Party That Changed Everything

Stef hosted the party and talked us through the products, the company’s mission, and the story behind founder Susie Ma. Honestly, the whole thing was so relaxed and informative. No pushy sales tactics. No awkward pressure. Just a fun evening with friends, nibbles, a bit of fizz, and some beautiful products to try out.

Now, I’m not a pamper-yourself kind of person. My skin is so sensitive that I’ve always avoided anything more than a face wipe. Moisturiser? Nope. Cleanser? Terrifying. I had fully accepted that skincare wasn’t for me.

But that night, I bought the Essential Collection. It includes the Smoothing Cleanser, Morning Mist Toning Essence and the Skin Feast Moisturiser. I was fully expecting to have some sort of reaction or regret. Instead, I had soft, calm, happy skin. For the first time in my life, I was using real skincare and actually enjoying it.

Then I tried the Elixir Enriching Omega Facial Oil. This stuff is liquid gold. It’s my absolute favourite and my skin drinks it up. I also got the Rainforest Dew Hydration Serum which is another total game changer.

From Pamper Night to Side Hustle

A couple of weeks later at BNI, Stef mentioned in her 45-second intro that some Tropic Ambassadors go all in and make it their full-time business, while others join simply to get 25 percent off the products they already love. That was the lightbulb moment for me. I thought, hang on… why am I not doing that?

I already loved the products. I was already recommending them to friends. And as someone always on the lookout for fun side hustle ideas, this felt like a perfect fit.

So I took the plunge and signed up. For £198 I got over £600 worth of products in the Starter Kit. That alone was worth it. I’ve been using the products daily, testing them properly, and even letting friends borrow bits to try for themselves.

And the best part? There are no sales targets. No pressure. You don’t have to sell a certain amount to stay active. You just do it your way, at your pace, however it fits into your life. Whether that’s going all in, doing the odd event, or simply getting the discount for your own orders, it’s completely up to you.

Tropic x This Is Me Boutique Launch

To give it a proper kick-off, we hosted a little Tropic launch night along with This Is Me Boutique. Stef and Cheryl helped organise it, and we invited friends and family for a chilled evening of pampering, prosecco, and play. The products were a huge hit. My mum treated herself, Moni did too, and we had such a laugh. It just felt easy and enjoyable, not salesy or awkward.

We’re now planning PJ and Pamper nights that combine the boutique with Tropic, which I think will be such a fun little crossover. It’s another great example of how a side hustle can naturally complement something else you’re already doing.

The Bigger Picture

While I’m not personally driving this as a full-time business right now, it would be wrong not to mention the opportunities that are there for anyone who does want to go for it.

Some of the girls in Stef’s team and the wider Tropic group are earning huge amounts. There are five-star trips, incredible incentives, and even Tropic’s very own festival for ambassadors. Stef herself has been invited to be part of opening a brand new school funded by Tropic in Nepal next year, which honestly says everything about the kind of company this is and the impact it can have.

There are also always generous customer offers, party host rewards, and new joiner incentives running. January’s offer is incredible. If a new ambassador hits £250 in their first 14 days, they’ll receive a brand new exclusive product. If they reach £500, they’ll also receive a Tropic diary. It’s a great boost if you’re starting out and gives you something exciting to aim for straight away.

So while this is a side hustle for me, the possibilities really are endless for anyone who wants more from it.

So, Will I Be Going All In?

Honestly? No at the moment. I love the products, and I’m proud to be an ambassador, but I’ve got enough on my plate with the businesses, the kids, and general life. I won’t be treating this as a full-time thing, but that’s what makes it so perfect. It works around everything else.

Stef has been incredibly supportive and never once made me feel like I should be doing more. She really tailors her support to each ambassador’s goals. If you want to grow a team, she’s there. If you want to just earn a bit of extra money on the side, she’s there for that too.

It’s flexible, it’s ethical, and the products speak for themselves.

Would I Recommend It?

Absolutely. Whether you’re looking for a proper business opportunity, a discount on skincare you love, or a side hustle you can pick up in your spare time, Tropic is worth checking out. The products are kind to your skin, kind to the planet, and founded by someone with an incredibly inspiring story.

I’ve gone from being a wet-wipe-only kind of girl to someone who actually looks forward to her evening skincare routine. And if that isn’t proof Tropic works, I don’t know what is.
